Hi:

The code you received, Hard Disk 1 Full Test Failure, means that the hard drive will have to be replaced, and the operating system reinstalled.

Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.  The HDD R & R procedure can be found in chapter 6.

http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04653881

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...

To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.  Make the 64 bit installation media.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

  1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
  2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
  3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
  4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

  5. Select which media you want to use:
  6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

You can also save the W10 ISO file instead of making the bootable USB flash drive installer, and burn it to a DVD using the tool I zipped up and attached below if you would rather use a DVD to reinstall W10.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

Welcome to the HP Forums :) I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I see from your post you need assistance related to your HP Envy laptop. Don't worry we'll work together to help you find a solution.

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Have you recently made any software or hardware changes on the PC before the issue started?

Have you tried to use an alternate battery to see if that helps.

In the meantime, let's try these steps here:

Perform a hard reset on the notebook

Many startup errors and other problems can be resolved by decreasing the amount of power stored in hardware components. Decreasing stored power is sometimes referred to as a "Hard Reset". Use the following steps to perform a hard reset on a computer:

1. If Windows is open, click Start and then Shutdown.

If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.

2. With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.

3. With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.

4. Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.

Next thing, I would suggest here is to try with an replacement battery and check if that works.

If this does not help, then this could be an issue with the battery controllers causing this issue. This could be a possible hardware failure. I will share you few details through a private message about the service options dedicated to your product, please watch your inbox for more information.

I hope this helps resolve this issue completely,

Regards,

Happy New Year to you too!

We may be able to help you with that.

Enter any BIOS P/W three times, and the PC should generate a system disabled code.

If it does, post the code including the lower case 'i' if applicable.

no post after normal shutdown

My problem with my Mini is after shutdown. It will shutdown normally, but will not re-start without un-plugging the ac adapter first prior to startup. I got around this problem for a while now by plugging in the ac adapter to a power strip with a on/off switch, and turning the switch off after every use. It posted every time after that. Now I want to address this issue and get rid of the power strip. What are known causes for this problem. How can this be fixed?   Is this anyway associated with the power cord recall?hp_power_recall.jpg

envy m6-1125dx doesn't boot after updating BIOS

Hello,

I have an envy m6-1125dx that I ran the HP Support Assistant on to upgrade the drivers. I downloaded and installed them down the list and after I installed the BIOS update the computer restarted but will not turn on. The only thing that happens is the power button light illuminates, the caps lock white light blinks 5 times and repeats, and the F12 amber light is constantly illuminated. Nothing else happens in regard to a boot sequence. I am not able to access the BIOS or boot menu. Any help would be appreciated. This is my personal pc and it is currently bricked.

Hi, thank you for your replie!

It gave me the following system disabledcode : [i 76664129].

I already tried to generate a new password on a website i found but that didn't work for me.

It gave me a very large new password that i could not completely use.

I gues i have to contact HP Support, my waranty is still valid for 7 months.

You're very welcome.

Welcome to HP Support Forums. A really great platform for posting all your questions and finding solutions.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

May I know where did you get the Windows 10 from?

I suggest you download and run the HP Support Assistant from this Link: https://www8.hp.com/us/en/campaigns/hpsupportassistant/hpsupport.html?jumpid=va_r602_us/en/any/psg/pl_ot_ob_ds_pd/hpsupportassistant_cc/dt

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Keep me posted if the issue persists

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊

I have already tried a recovery to factory image and even the recovery with minimal drivers. Both of those options resulted in blue screen error upon startup, and i was actually unable to go through the HP setup process before displaying your desktop.

So to fix that i had to take the harddrive out of the laptop and hook it up to another computer to complete the setup, and then i could boot to safe mode and run the AMD driver unistallation software.

Laptop won’t start either with or without battery

Hi there, my laptop has stopped booting. I’ve tried turning it on; plugged in with and without the battery and solely with the battery but nothing seems to work. I replaced the battery fairly recently but it doesn’t seem to be a battery issue because it doesn’t work without it, nor does it seem to be a charger issue because when plugged in the charging light appears. I’ve tried a hard reset and there has just been no response. The only thing I can think of it being is a hardware issue but was just wondering if anyone had an idea.

cheers,

Pat

I have done all of the automated help proceedures. Several times.  Cap lock, wi-fi, power and hdd 1 blink sequence. Changed mem stick out and it stopped blinking, but fan turns on then off leds are on but dead.  Connected to an external Monitor, nothing. A post was made where the LCD was disconnected internally and an external display connected found the touch screen was overloading on boot so tried this and still nothing. Replaced MB as I was told MB was dead from a reply here. Same thing with a supposedly perfect MB from a system that was running but LCD display cracked. Could the power button have gone bad? Connected HDD, memory and wi-fi on different system and they worked fine. At a total loss as to what else it could be but power button.
