Re: Updates will not take spinning and will not let me log in
Hey there!
Don't worry I'll try to help you out.
Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.
Let's continue with the troubleshooting now.
Try the steps recommended below.
If Windows is not open and the computer has power, press and hold the power button on the computer until the computer shuts off.
With the power off, disconnect the power cord from the back of the computer.
With the power off and the power cord disconnected, press the power button on the computer for 5 seconds. The power light indicator on or near the power button might turn on briefly but then go out.
Reconnect the power cord and turn on the power.
Restore BIOS to default and check if it helps.
1. Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2. Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3. On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4. Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5. Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6. Follow the prompts to restart your computer.
Some PCs may need a long time to download Windows 10, depending on the quality of the internet connection, the amount of data to move and the computer’s speed. In some cases, it may take as long as 24 hours, so please be patient. If your hard drive is still flashing, there’s a good chance it is still making progress.
From the WinX Menu, open Command Prompt (Admin). Type the following one after the other and hit Enter:
net stop wuauserv
net stop bits
Next browse to the C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution folder and delete all the files and folders inside. Press Ctrl+A to Select All and then Delete.
If the files are in use, and you are unable to delete some files, restart your device. After rebooting, run the above commands again. Now you will be able to delete the files from the mentioned Software Distribution folder.
After you have emptied this folder, you may restart your computer or you may type the following commands one at a time in the CMD, and hit Enter to restart the Windows Update related Services.
net start wuauserv
net start bits
Run Windows Update again and see.
You will be able to download and install the updates successfully. Once done, you will see that a restart has also been scheduled.
If the issue persists try running system diagnostics on your PC and check if the hardware on your laptop is functioning correctly.
Refer this article to know more information about running system diagnostics on your PC.
I'll keep an eye out for your response.
I hope you have a great day! :)

BIOS Setup password reset
Hi, i have the Driver Recovery DVD compatible with all the HP EliteBook series (so mine included), but my model does not have disk reader, so how can i reset my BIOS setup password ? I have 3 separate series of numbers behind the paper containing my DVD, maybe it has some use ? I know i can remove the CMOS and put it back but it's complicated for novice. Thanks for your time and comprehension
Re: Windows is not starting
Hi,
Maybe you can add a few words. Does the notebook boot? do you see HP logo? Does Windows start loading? Are there any error messages?
Let us know,
David
Re: No Display, Three Long Caps Lock Blinks, Two Short
How unfortunate.
So now you should either try the full diagnostic or replace the memory.
Re: Windows update stuck
Hi Lewis,
You do not give the exact model of the notebook. If you had Windows 10 installed on the PC, you can probably still perform a new system recovery at boot. Look in the page in the link below under the heading "Performing recovery when Windows does not start correctly"
https://support.hp.com/si-en/document/c04758961
You can also create a bootable USB drive on a different PC with Windows 10 on it {you do not need product key) and perform a clean install of Windows 10.
"
Download media creation tool from Microsoft on different PC, run and create a bootable pendrive with the OS on it. (there is an explanation on the Microsoft web page on how to create the pendrive). Create the drive with Windows 10 Home 64-bit edition.
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
If you choose this option you will need to use the pendrive to perform a clean install of Windows 10. You might need to disable fastboot and secure boot in BIOS (probably not). So, insert the pendrive in the PC and it should boot directly from the drive. If not, turn off PC by holding the power button. Press the power button and immediately keep pressing ESC until startup menu appears and then press F9 and choose the pendrive in the boot menu. Once it boots from pendrive follow the procedure to install Windows. At install Windows choose custom install and delete all partitions (or you can leave the recovery partition even though there are many other recovery options) You do not need a product key as it is in the firmware. Windows will automatically activate once installed and connected to the internet.
When finished installing allow Windows to completely update and find all or most drivers. You can follow this process by going into settings > Security and update > click on Verify for updates. You might need to reboot a couple of times. Once completely updated you can go into device manager and see if there are any missing drivers (there will be yellow exclamation mark next to the device). You can find these drivers and software on HP support page for your product.
I recommend installing HP support assistant which will help keep your drivers up to date and much more. You can download the latest version from here.

Hope it helps,
David
Re: hard drive
Are you absolutely certain you have made the W8.x I linked to?
Not using a n other?
Because the mention of a download is completely at odds with booting from a DVD/USB.
BIOS password
Hello! I have a problem I can't handle. The matter is that on my laptop the BIOS or UEFI was blocked I precisely do not know, at attempt to enter BIOS I am asked to enter BIOS administrator password which I do not know. I really need to go to the BIOS potamuchto I no longer have any PC (writing from a PC from a friend). Please tell me how do I know or reset this password
Re: My long drive self test failed
We have no way of determining if your laptop is "fake" or "genuine" from here. If you were to take it to an HP repair facility, and pay them to examine it, they could tell you if it is a genuine HP product. But that would cost you something.
Also, you've provided us absolutely no information whatsoever on the HP product, so without any details, we can't provide any assistance.
Re: Logo HP
Looks like you translated your post into English -- so we can help, now.
When you say the "company logo" disappeared, I presume you mean the HP logo, right? That is to be expected because you replaced the preinstalled OS with a non-HP product.
As to it NOT being on the Internet -- that is a serious issue because it has to be connected to the Internet, at least for a while, in order to activate the OS you installed. That is done by contacting the Microsoft Activation Servers.
Once the PC is activated, you can then keep it off the internet by going into Device Manager and disabling the network drivers -- but that will also disable any networking, including Ethernet and/or WiFi.
So basically, if the PC is connected to a network that then has Internet access, there is no way to prevent it from accessing the Internet.
Re: Need to reset hp pavilion dv9000 laptop
Since this is a used PC, it's possible that it came with something other than Win10 preinstalled and if so, and it is running Win10 now, that Upgrade corrupted the recovery information, preventing the factory reset from working anymore.
You have two possibilities at this point ...
1) HP Recovery Media -- you have to purchase this, but it will restore the laptop to its original factory condition. That will allow you to create your own account and use it as if it were a new PC.
HP Recovery Media is a set of DVDs and a CD, or USB stick, that will erase the hard drive (removing all data, settings, and applications, reinstall the original OS, drivers, and some HP Utilities.
In some cases, you may be able to order a USB stick instead of disks. You have to order these from HP; they can not be downloaded.
You can look online for Recovery Media starting with the linked paged: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers
Once there, input your Product name or number. On your Software and Drivers Download page, select your Operating System and and Version. Click "Update". If HP Recovery Media is available for your machine, down near the bottom of the page, you will see an entry for Order Recovery Media-CD/DVD/USB. Click the "+" symbol to expand that entry and click on Order Media for details.
Or, if you prefer, you can do the same by contacting HP Customer Service:
If you live in the US or Canada, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/phone-assist.html#section1
If you live elsewhere, contact information is on this page: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
NOTE: After you get through, stay on the line until you are finally able to talk to some one -- it can take a while!
If you have trouble finding a phone number, then try: 1 (800)474-6836
If HP no longer provides Recovery Media for your model, another site you can check is: http://www.computersurgeons.com
When you get the media, if it is a USB stick, insert it into your PC, pressing F9 to get a Boot menu, then select the External USB Hard Drive to boot from it.
2) Reinstall Windows 10. If the PC was running Windows 10, then it was already registered with Microsoft and you could reinstall Win10 and reuse it.
You need another working PC to download and create Win10 installation media using this tool: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Once you have that media, boot your PC from it an install Win10 afresh.
How do I reset bios password
Help me reset bios password. I recently bought a laptop from eBay with unknown administrative password.
Re: HP Omen freezes and restarts when moved
Hey there!
Don't worry I'll try to help you out. Let me ask you a few questions in order to assist you better.
Did you make any hardware or software changes on your PC?
Were there any recent windows update on the PC?
Excellent description and a great diagnosis done. It is greatly appreciated.
Let's continue with the troubleshooting steps now.
Try the steps recommended below.
I would suggest you enable Fast Start-Up on the system and check if it helps. To do this, follow the steps below.
1. Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
2. Click/tap on the Choose what the power buttons do link on the left side.
3. Click/tap on the Change settings that are currently unavailable link at the top.
4. If prompted by UAC, then click/tap on Yes.
5. Ensure that Turn on Fast Startup is checked.
6. Restart the computer.
Try updating the BIOS and chipset drivers on the PC and check if it helps.
Update the BIOS using this link. Click Here
Also, update the chipset drivers using this link. Click Here
You can try updating other drivers on your PC using HP support assistant. Click Here
If the issue still persists after trying out the steps try the steps recommended below.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type sfc /scannow. Make sure to include the space between sfc and the /.
Press Enter and wait while System File Checker scans for corrupted files.
When scanning is complete, the results are displayed on the screen.
If the file checker found and replaced any corrupted files, restart the computer and check the performance.
If the file checker did not find any corrupted files or found corrupted files but could not replace them, go to the next step.
If System File Checker finds corrupted files but cannot replace them, use the Deployment Image Servicing and Management (DISM) tool. DISM checks the corrupted files; then downloads and replaces the files using Windows Update.
In Windows, open a web browser.
NOTE:
You need to be connected to the Internet to use DISM.
In Windows, search for Command Prompt. In the search results, right-click Command Prompt and select Run as administrator. Then click Yes.
In Command Prompt, type dism.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth. Make sure to include the space before each / in the command line.
Press Enter and wait while DISM works. This might take several minutes.
If DISM finds corrupted files, it replaces them using Windows Update. If this occurs, after DISM is finished, restart your computer and see if the performance has improved.

Lastly, if you are unable to try any steps recommended above, try running a system diagnostics test on your PC and check if the hardware on your PC is functioning correctly.
