Re: Bios password HP EliteBook 840
Welcome to the HP Support Community
For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
Contact Support >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html
When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.
Just to note:
Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery. As it will not remove the password, but it may reset the clock and as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC may cause it to fail.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is taking more time to start.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

- When was the last time the computer was working fine?
- Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
Open Settings and browse to System > Power & sleep. On the right side of this screen, click Additional power settings to open the Power Options menu on the Control Panel.
Here, click Choose what the power buttons do on the left sidebar. You’ll need to provide administrator permission to change the settings on this page, so click the text at the top of the screen that reads Change settings that are currently unavailable.
Now, untick Turn on fast startup (recommended) and Save Changes to disable this setting.
If you continue facing the issue, stop Programs Loading at Startup.
Here is how it is done.
Step 1. Press and hold Ctrl + Alt + Del keys simultaneously to invoke Task Manager.
Step 2. Then select the "Startup" tab and find out the unnecessary process with high startup impact and then hit the "Disable" button.
Step 3. After that, switch to the "Services" tab and click "Open services". Select all unnecessary Microsoft services you want to disable and click on "Stop".
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!

Please help me? My notebook won't come on.. The power button lights up and when I put me ear to the back I can hear something try to run but screen stays blank and the caps lock blinks twice every 2-3ish secs... Nonremovable battery.. I've tried all suggestions.win+b, win+v, holding the power button, pressing esp, pressing all arrows at once. I don't have an external monitor. My warrenty is expired. All I have is my Android phone but I don't know how to get into my notebook through my phone to run any tests... I just need my notebook to get it together.. Is it possible to have someone or something remotely get into my notebook and fix things? That would be excellent.. I'm clueless about computers.. I just need my notebook to work.. Thank you for taking the time..

Re: power went out and screen never returned is just gray with pointer and thinking circle
You would have to get it fixed under the warranty -- and that is something we can not do, from here.

I bought an Hp laptop about 4 to 5 years ago. As a laziness i didn't searched for my product name and number. Last week my backpack has been stolen where laptop was there. I informed to the police about the incident and they want the serial number of the laptop. I have logged in my Hp laptop and i am in need of the serial number.
