It looks like you were interacting with , but he is out for the day & I'll be glad to help you out,
I'm the Jeet_Singh & I'm at your service.

After reviewing your post thoroughly, I understand you seems to have an issue with the notebook. Don't worry as I have a few suggestions which should help you resolve this issue.

I would suggest here is to Run Windows Updates troubleshooter -

Download and install the troubleshooter from this link.

Now try to perform a Windows update:

1) In the search box, type and open Windows Updates.

2) Check for updates.

3) If the updates are available, click on install and restart the computer.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the display drivers from device manager:

Display drivers:

Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10

Select Device Manager.

Expand the entry. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

Now restart the computer and then update the Bios, and graphics card drivers from our HP support website, using this link.

If the issue persists, I would suggest here is to uninstall the HP Support Assistant from the control panel and then reinstall the latest version.

Download and install HP support assistant on your PC. It should automatically download and install the latest updates and drivers for your PC.

Refer this link to know how to use HP support assistant.

Please let me know if this resolves the issue, or if you require further assistance!

Eagerly waiting for your response!

that said, If the information I've provided was helpful,

give us some reinforcement by clicking the solution and kudos buttons,

that'll help us and others see that we've got the answers!

Good Luck.

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to Windows.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  1. Turn off the computer.
  2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
  3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices, such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
  4. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
  5. Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
  6. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.
  7. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
  8. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
  9. On the Options screen, select Continue and continue to Windows 10.
  10. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.
  11. Reconnect each of the peripheral devices.

Usually this is because the BIOS is searching your whole drive for a boot sector that it can latch onto. You can sometimes upgrade the BIOS to make it a bit faster (usually just makes it give up easier). The other option is to remove the "removable device" from your BIOS boot order, or place it below your normal HDD.

Sometimes it so happens that a computer needs more time to read USB devices having a huge amount of data in them and that could be one of the reason for late detection.

so it's recommended not to connect any storage device( such as USB flash drive, USB external hard drive) while booting the computer.

Just wanted to check If Windows has been booting as expected with the external drive connected for some time; and this issue only recently began, it is best to check with the PC or motherboard manufacturer for available BIOS and Chipset updates, along with Windows service updates and patches.

I hope this answers your question. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Take care now and do have a fabulous week ahead. :)

My notebook is not turning on and it appears to be a common issue with the mother board burning out. I'm surprised there's no recall yet on this issue and notebook. Has anyone contact BBB regarding this?

Turns out the power cord was bad.  I tried a different adapter and it charged the laptop and I'm able to start it now.

Thanks for all the suggestions!

Disabling PXE IPv6 in BIOS

$

We use PXE boot start an managed enviroment. The BIOS is configured in UEFI mode (needed to run Windows 10 on the SSD).

When using F12 on startup to boot from PXE, the system asks if we want to PXE boot with IPv4 or IPv6. This confuses some users, and I would like to be able to skip this step (always use IPv4). I can go into the BIOS (F10), and change the boot options (disable IPv6 PXE boot). This works fine.

I need to automate/script this setting, so it gets disabled when the system receives a new Windows 10 installation.

Using SCCM, I added a new step to the task sequence:

- Get all the settings from the BIOS, create configuration file

- check if IPv6 PXE is turned on, if so change the configuration file to disabled (functions 100%)

- if IPv6 is turned on, send changed configuration file to system to change the setting

The problem: the scipt to change the configuration file functions perfect. I see that the correct value has changed. If I reboot the system, it's a gamble on what boot setting was changed in the BIOS. It may be that the IPv6 is now disabled, but also one of the other boot values. It always disables one value, but not necessarily the IPv6 option.

Someone else also got problems with this option?

Using BiosConfigUtility64.exe version 4.0.25.1

I have lost my BIOS password

Lost the BIOS password.  The examples given in the HP virtual helper say that they were given a code after 3 attempts.  Mine just locks up with no code, and the only option is to restart.

The serial number is 5CD7524YDX.

How can I get into the bios please?

Welcome to the HP Support Community. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips to your technical queries. I have reviewed your post and I understand, there's an issue with "No bootable" error. To better assist you -

1) What's the model name of the computer? Refer to this link for steps to find the product details. (Ensure not to share the serial number, email, phone number, etc.)

2) Were there any hardware or software changes made?

While you respond to that, please try the steps mentioned in this document.

Hope this helps!

Let me know how that goes.

My compaq worked fine until I turned it on one day and it showed the error screen I have to this very day. I know windows 7 is a little old and prone to software and hardware problems so this was expected. If anyone can help it would be much appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Contact Support >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

Just to note:

Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery.  As it will not remove the password, but it may reset the clock and as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC may cause it to fail.
