Hello Calimo97,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More. I have read your post on how your notebook will continuously display "Please Wait" for hours on end, and I would be happy to assist you! To begin, I will need to ask you a few questions:
- What is the Product and Model Number of your notebook computer?
- What bit-version of Windows 8 do you have installed on your computer?
- Has your computer completed all of its important Windows Updates?
- Have you updated your HP drivers using the HP Support Assistant?
- Is this an on-going, or recent issue?
- Where you installing a particular program / update before your notebook became stuck?
In the meantime, I recommend following this document on How to Perform an HP System Recovery using the Recovery partition on your computer. Please select the option to restore your computer to a previous Restore Point before this issue first occurred. If the message still does not disappear when you launch Windows, please select the System Recovery option when clicking F11. This will reformat the hard drive on your notebook.
If the issue persists, I recommend following this document on Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 8). This should help diagnose if there is a hardware defect on your notebook.
If the issue persists, please call our technical support at 1-800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region please click the link below to get the support number for your region.
