Hi there,
I have had my HP Probook 4520s for 5+ years and a couple of months ago it started to become very laggy especially when using the internet, streaming video and playing games.
I thought I had identified the issue as a bad sector on the hard drive and so I bought a new hard drive and upgraded the RAM from 4gb to 8gb at the same time.
When I installed the new hard drive I couldn't burn an image of my old hard drive (it would stop during the process and couldn't do it because of an error). I used my HP Windows Pro 7 x64 bit Operating System DVD and HP Application and Driver Recovery DVD to install the necessary drivers onto my new replacement had drive.
The RAM and new hard drive seem to be fine, however, it is increasingly laggy. I have tried using latancy monitors to see if the drivers are the issue. It seems there is a huge amount of latancy and my CPU is at an almost constant 100% usuage.
LatancyMon points at the following drivers: ndis.sys, usbport.sys, tcip.sys, acpi.sys, iastor.sys, dxgkrnl.sys and on and on.
I have seen forums where they take you through a step by step how to determine what drivers are causing latancy. This i have done although it always seems to change which drivers are causing the problem and there seems to be a lot of drivers causing this issue so it is hard to single out which one. Also, there seems to be no fix for these issues. THe only one being offered is to update the offending drivers. THis doesn't solve the problem and the lag and latancy still remain.
Any ideas?
P.s. I am really not sure what is the underlying issue here is so I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post in. The drivers may not be the issue at all, I have spent the past four weeks trying to solve this problem.
