Re: DV7 error message then shut down

First of welcome to the HP Forums!

When your notebook does have blinking lights, it is trying to tell you that it does have an error. I have included the document 'Computer Does Not Start and the LEDs Blink or the Computer Beeps'. It does have different options available for specific blinking light sequences. Now most of them do include the the Num Lock as blinking.

If you are unable to find your exact sequence of blinking lights, another document that you can try is 'Computer Starts but Screen Remains Blank (Windows 8)'. Please follow through the steps outlined in order.

If you are still experiencing the same issue after the above troubleshooting, please let me know if you are able to view your screen on an external monitor, or not. As well the exact lights that are blinking on your notebook. Please also provide me with the full model number of your dv7 notebook. I have included the document 'Guide to finding your product number'. Also if you can tell me, what is the current version of Windows that you are running?
