The person on the line said it has been fixed. Have since purched a fan pad for it to sit on due to the fact that it feels so hot on the left side.
Am a member of STEAM and have been for about 10 years. Recently downloaded a couple of games dating from 2007 or 2008. The machine shuts down "Stating Overheating". All drivers are up to date, and it works fine when not gaming. Please explain. Still gets hot, but doesn't shut down. Games played just fine on it 3 years ago, not now. What changed.
When was the last time you dissembled and cleaned out the fan vents and vacumed the duts out of the vent ports? Also that would mean that your thermal paste is no longer working and considering you used it for 4/5 years that would mean a through cleaning and dusting out of the vents and fan and reapplying the thermal paste if that is the problem will do way more then the fan pad can accomplish.
