You're very welcome.
Hi everyone,
I’m working through a persistent issue with my HP Pavilion laptop (Product No. W2X34EA#ABD).
After being stuck in a boot loop, I followed the helpful advice from @VikramTheGreat and successfully performed a BIOS Recovery.
The good news:
• The boot loop is gone
• The system now powers on and attempts to boot
The bad news:
• I now receive a Blue Screen (BSOD) with the message:
ACPI BIOS ERROR
when trying to boot Windows 10 (both in UEFI and Legacy modes)
Important context:
• This exact BIOS version worked fine for years with Windows 10
• No hardware changes have been made
• MS-DOS boots fine from USB
• Linux Mint also boots and runs without issue from USB
• HP diagnostics (F2) all pass
This strongly suggests that:
• The BIOS recovery may have flashed incorrectly, or
• ACPI tables are corrupted, or
• A setting in the recovered BIOS is now triggering Windows ACPI errors
My questions:
• Is it possible to reflash or repair ACPI tables in this BIOS?
• Could there be a hidden setting (like ACPI mode, Windows 8/10 support toggle, or similar) that needs adjustment?
• Has anyone experienced ACPI BIOS ERROR after a recovery, and resolved it?
Thanks again to @VikramTheGreat – your input already helped a lot, and I’m now one step away from getting this fixed.
Any guidance would be appreciated!
Best regards,

Hi, I have a single 8GB RAM stick in my laptop. I am adding a Crucial DDR4-3200 16GB stick to the second slot, but when I install RAM, the caps lock button shows 3 Blinks followed by a 1 Second Pause and 2 Blinks. Can anyone help me with what the issue is?
The 8GB RAM stick works fine in both slots.

Need to replace my laptop battery
Hello,
I have a HP ENVY x360 - 15-u493cl (ENERGY STAR) laptop that just stopped booting up. I was working one moment then just stop turning on. The fan turn on but the screen stays black and the Cap lock key starts blinking. (It stays lit for about 3 seconds then off for about another 3 seconds.) I brought it to BestBuy to have them run a diagnostic to determine the issue. The told me it was a fried system board and it looked like it was truck by lightning. So I bought a new board and replaced it but it still doesn't boot up. After looking online for possible fixes I found that updating the BIO might be a fix but on the HP website (https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/hp-envy-15-u400-x360-convertible-pc/model/10521640) it doesn't list any drivers for updating the BIO.
My question is, does anyone know where I can find the appropriate driver to create a USB or any ideas why is not starting up.
I appreciate the time.

Hi, Yesterday evening, everything was running normally and I shut down the system without any issues.
Weh I tried to start the Notebook in the morning, nothing happened.
I tried to do a BIOS reset (after draining disconnecting battery, pressing Windows+V and 3sec of the power button). The Fan starts a short moment and dies down, after a few seconds the fan goes even faster, but dies again. I can't see any lights (except power-cable LED) and the screen is totally black. No sounds can be heard.
I’ve got a new 2TB Kingston SSD which I have cloned in windows with acronis. The SSD is recognised in windows. When I boot the pc it tells me that there is no HDD installed. I can’t find any options in BIOS and have downloaded all updates - BIOS etc.
im sure it is connected ok. Is it a formatting issue/BIOS setting or similar?
Hi paul
Thanks for suggesting
I tried that and it shows application close no HDD FOUND..
any suggestions?
You're very welcome.
Sounds to me like the drive needs to be replaced.
@Turismo85, Welcome to HP Support Community,
Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue
It sounds like you're dealing with a boot issue on a Pavilion 17G121, and despite the diagnostics indicating that the hardware is fine, the system isn't completing the boot process. There could be several potential causes for this, ranging from software issues to corrupted boot files or incorrect boot settings.
Here's a general troubleshooting guide to help narrow down and resolve the issue:
Check for External Devices
Unplug all external devices (USB drives, printers, external hard drives, etc.) from the laptop.
Sometimes, the system can hang while trying to boot from an external device.
Try a Hard Reboot
Perform a hard reboot by shutting down the laptop completely and then holding down the power button for about 10-15 seconds.
This will discharge any residual power and may reset any hardware glitches that could be causing the boot loop.
Boot into Safe Mode (Windows Recovery Environment)
If Windows is not booting fully, you can try booting into Safe Mode to troubleshoot:
Power on the laptop and immediately press the F8 key multiple times.
If successful, you’ll enter the Advanced Boot Options menu.
Choose Safe Mode or Safe Mode with Networking.
If you manage to get into Safe Mode, the issue might be caused by a recent update or driver conflict.
Check Boot Order in BIOS/UEFI
Sometimes the system may not boot from the primary hard drive because the boot order is incorrect.
Power on the laptop and press Esc and then enter the BIOS/UEFI settings.
Make sure that the Primary Hard Drive (HDD/SSD) is set as the first boot device. If you’re using UEFI, make sure it is set to boot in UEFI mode.
I hope this helps.
Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.
Take care and have a good day.

I’ve faced similar boot and lockup issues, especially when working on content updates for Honista.blog . Turns out, background tasks and outdated drivers can really slow things down—especially with heavier tools running. A clean boot and disabling startup bloat really helped. Appreciate the tips shared here!
