My HP laptop has developed a new problem, and this is happening consistently. I will start up the computer, and after everything has started up, the mouse pointer on the screen will suddenly stop responding. It doesn't matter what program I'm in, it will suddenly stop working and it will not recover - it's frozen in one spot. You can let it sit for hours and it will not recover. The only way to get it to respond is to do a hard reboot of the computer. After it starts up it will be fine for awhile, and then suddenly it will do the same thing again. I can't make the pointer move on the screen with either the external mouse, or the touchpad at the bottom of the computer when this occurs. I should add that on occasion, the keyboard stops responding at startup - not all the time but occasionally. The only way I can get the keyboard to start responding is to turn the computer off and turn it back on again. I can use my fingerprint to get into the computer but even after I'm logged in, the keyboard still won't work unless I turn it on and off again. Any suggestions as to how I can fix these problems (other than continually having to turn the machine on and off)?
