Go to Generic USB Hub (both of them) in Device Manager.
Go to the Power Management tab
Uncheck the box about allowing the computer to turn off this device to save power.
Restart.
I haven't had my touchscreen fail since doing this.
I copied this from a post about the touchscreen. my touch pad died while looking for a solution. Unchecking these boxes and the touch pad came back to life.
