Here's some more info, please check my previous post - reply. Thanks. I am unable to start the notebook I followed instructions on the blue screen that a) did locate the problem to be the iastor interl driver, b) instructed me to remove it. Therefore I removed iastor.sys from 6 or 7 different places (after backing those directories up). Ever since the notebook doesnot start at all, it only points to Windows Recover, which I cannot access anyway. To answer your questions. No HDD Raid, and the only bios change I made was to change the boot sequence to be able to load an bootable AVG virus scanner, which proved useless. For a long time after that, if I removed the booting usb, Windows loaded normally. So Bios has nothing to do with it. Right now, I can neither reset Bios or go into safe mode to update drivers. What I can do is open the case, take out HDD connect it to another pc and restore the iastor.sys locations. It seems this is my only way out, since where I am there is a holiday, from Thursday to Monday, and I cannot wait that long. If I am told that this will cancel my warranty, I will refer them to this mail, plus the fact that the noteback has been tampered with, (loose screws, etc.). To run any test or run any diagostic tool to my HD I need to know first who made it. Spekky did not supply any info. I will rather run the manufacturer's diagnostic tool. A detail of use to you, perhaps. In earlier efforts to run Check Disk (though the routine at Tune-Up Utilities), it always produced a blue screen at exacty the same point, i.e. at 2% of the in-depth analysis of the file system (at around file 100 000 of 53 million). I think i also run some memory tests, which all came through fine. As in my previous mail, the model no is Envy 6-1010ev and the PN is B6X67EA#AB7 I personally thank you for your attention, but my end line towards HP I save for after the solution is found WITHIN THIS WEEKEND. Thanks again, Arkoudision.
