I have updated all drivers from HP, before this started happening, and I tried hitting esc as the notebook boots, but only to have the options flash for a couple seconds and then the computer shutdown, the same happens using f2 and f10,
What puzzles me is how the notebook even knows to turn on when picked up, it's most likely a hardware issue as DavidPK said, but I was trying to find out if anyone had a similar problem, also yes, the notebook is infact in warranty, I'll post any developments here, thanks for the help, and I'll try the hard reset.
