Compaq Presario CQ61-313US
I am having some trouble trying to find out what the problem is.
One test points to a power problem while another points to memory.
When the battery is in, and the AC adapter is connected, the LED right next to the plug connector will light up.
Then without pressing any buttons the lightning bolt LED on the front left corner will blink 4 times, with the last blink being longer than the previous three. Nothing will happen, but the tiny led near the power plug will stay lit.
If the power button is pressed while the battery is in, and the AC connected, the lightning bolt LED indicator will blink 3 times. This blinking is quicker than the other blinking.
Battery with no ac, nothing, no blinks when power button is pressed. Nothing Lit.
NO battery but with AC connected. The only thing that lights up is the tiny LED right next to the power plug. No response when power button is pressed.
A hard restart will obtain the same results.
Memory has been removed and reinserted with no effect.
Memory has been removed and tested with no memory, the cards switched, a card in one slot, and all other combinations. All blinks are the same. 4 when plug in power cord, with the last one being long, 3 all short when power button is pressed.
Note: All these blinks are on the front indicator LED in the middle, the one with the lightning bolt, im assuming that means power. I have no blinks at all on my keyboard.
The 3 blinking should mean memory problems.
But other tests indicate that there may be a power problem. Whenever the AC adapter is plugged in, the tiny led near the adapter plug is lit, indicating it has power.
Some help would be appreciated.
Thank you
