I'm not a big tech person, usually click stuff till it works. I have a compaq presario cq62 from 2011. I haven't been using it for a variety of reasons. Basically what happens is the fan sounds like it's going to explode. It always locks ups and freezes on me. BUT I tried somethig new. I did a factory reset ad it seemed to fix it?! trying to be good to my computer I installed the updates when I shut it down when I woke up in the morning poof! Same problem. Could the updates be ruining it?
