Thanks for the advice. Unfortunately because of the cutout issue the Laptop very rarely manages to even get to the CTRL+ALT+DELETE Screen!

Accessing the BIOS amd navigating the menus replicates the same behaviour!

Any other suggestions? I have ordered a new motherboard anyhow. But I was hoping that I had overlooked something more trivial.
