over heating and low battery time.. pavillion g6 2237tx

hi! i own a pavillion g6 2237 tx notebook! its like ive been owning it for like 6 or 7 months and it has started to become slow.. rather too slow sometimes.. and sometimes it just hangs up and i can do nothing for like 10 mins or slow..! sometimes i have to manually press the power button to restart it! and sometimes.. when i like install some high end games or something like that.. the mouse pointer just freezes and i cant move it till i restart my notebook! ive refreshed my lappy a couple of times.. and can even afford to reinstall the OS..(the prebuilt one.. its not updating to 8.1 either)! can someone help me out with this issue?! it really bugs me sometimes!
the second part.. my battery time..like it shows full charge nd gets depleted in an hour to two to the max..! the app i use mostly is chrome and bluestacks.. nothing else..is my battery the thing which causes this problem..or is my lappy having some issues to deal with?! if so.. should i send my lappy to a local hp centre for a service.. ( which my parents are not wiling to because i have loads of personal photos to deal with..like a 100 gb or so and i havent partitioned the hard disk either) what should i do?!  i am like blanked out over here..! please help me! because id be hitting college next year.. and need to buy a new one..! soo.. some precautions..nd pre warnings would be helpful too!
