- Download and update AMD driver from the official AMD site, not HP.
- Completly uninstalling JMicron driver and HP drive guard. After that, check HP Mobile Data Protection sensor in device manager and uninstall\delete it from system. Be carefull to check the box to uninstall all the drivers for this device.
- Disable device orientation sensor and location provider in device manager
- Delete Railink Bluetooth driver
- Install all Windows Updates, but not the drivers. Except AMD, all of them must be taken from HP site.
- Disable autoupdate in windows store
- In your power plan, set sleep mode to "never" on battery and AC mode. Display off timer set to 15 minutes on AC, 5 minutes on battery.
- In "advanced power settings" find "shutdown hard drive after" timer, and set it on, for example, 999999 minutes on battery and AC mode on all the power plans.
- Wait and pray.
These are the things I did and they worked for me, some people only uninstalled the Drive Guard sensor and that worked without doing all the other steps above. I installed from the Windows Store but I would think it would work ok if Microsoft Estonia installed it for you. Another thing I have done is disable automatic updates so that it does not reinstall the Drive Guard sensor, and then I can check which updates to install as new updates come available. I have uninstalled the HP Support Assistant a long time ago, this was the first instruction from HP Support when I contacted them back in November. If some of the drivers listed above are not on your system, don't worry, just remove those that are on your system. The only drivers I have not let Windows install are the sensor drivers. I use Chrome, but have tried Firefox and IE without problems. I am the only user so had no problems, 8.1 should leave users intact, I can say my Desktop, files and programs were all as they were before upgrading, so I think you should be safe enough. Unless they do a clean install, which will wipe everything, then again, if they did it before and everything was ok, it should be the same this time. If you have any further questions, email me drect on liamgood48@gmail.com Good luck, hope it works ok for you.
