What version of Windows is it? And we are talking about the Windows logon? You can't get into Windows?

Thank you for the reply but unfortunately I am unable to do the test.  When I turn the computher on and press F2 as indicated it does not do anything---unless i was reading the steps incorrectly...

Any other ideas?  Not really sure what the memory module is but it doesn't sound good??

Folio G1 freezes when any USB-C device is connected

My EliteBook Folio G1 Notebook PC (V1C36EA#AK8) freezes from time to time when I have any device connected through USB-C ports. Does not matter which device or which USB-port.
I have windows 10 64-bit, all drivers and HP-software updated through HP Support Assistant.
I have performed tests using UEFI but no errors were found and there are no log entries in the event viewer.
Also installed an application which display the cpu temp and it never gets above 70c.

I also have problem to get the computer started from sleep mode every now and then.

Any suggestions on how to proceed with diagnostics and troubleshooting?

Computer won't boot up

The HP logo comes on during boot up and the dots just continue to go in circle with nothing else happening.  I did a Microsoft update last night and this occurred when starting up the computer after the updates.  I can't find the serial number because there is no bar code on the computer.  I just received the computer last Wed.  None of the hard boot videos seem to work either.

Hello

Welcome to the HP Support forum. Happy holidays!

Based on your description, the issue is happening because the computer cannot successfully and fully load Windows. This may be hardware problem or software problem. Most probably related to the updates you completed the previous day...

Try using Windows System Restore

1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button

2. Power it on.

2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).

This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one

3. Choose  F11 for System Recovery options.

The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Every HP computer comes with recovery partition present to assist in tough moments.

Please, perform "System Restore" first in an attempt to fix the issue. Please, restore back to previous days (restore point) where the issue was not present.

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes.

You are welcome and thanks for the information. Smiley Happy

May I know when was the last time the sleep settings worked fine? Did you notice any changes that took place after which the sleep settings stopped working properly?

Meanwhile, I recommend you to perform the following steps to isolate the issue and arrive at a fix: Sleep and Hibernate Issues (Windows 10, 8).

Hope this helps. Feel free to let me know how it goes. Cheers! Smiley Happy

, thank you for your reply, I'll be more than glad to help you.

I understand that the issue has not resolved after following the steps mentioned in the previous interaction.

This could be a hardware issue with the unit and may need to be replaced.

Hence, please contact HP Phone Support for further assistance at the link: www.hp.com/contacthp

You have a good day ahead.

Laptop wont power up

Hey,

So I will try to be as specific as possible to describe how the issue went down.

I powered up the laptop as usual, and I heard a cranking sound from inside the PC (it was the fan i think) but then it went silent and PC booted up just fine. There was no problem for 30 minutes or so then PC shut itself down just like that. And that was it, I could never get it back on again. So what might the problem be, based on my description?

PS: Power adaptor works just fine, when it is plugged in I can see the 'charging' light on.

New Laptop - Blank Screen

0

Purchased HP Laptop from Very.co.uk this month as Christmas Present for Daughter.  She openned it up and started the installing process but after awhile the screen went blank.  She assumed this was part of the process and left it overnight. But this morning the screen was still blank. I've tried restarting and the light comes on, the screen flickers but still remains blank.  I've tried the HP BIOS recovery but after it does it the screen returns to blank.  The next stage is to open up the laptop but I don't know if this is wise as it's brand new plus I'm not sure how to do it as the example doesn't match our model.  Any help would be apprieciated or should I just return back to very.co.uk?  Kind regards, Darren.
