Hello @semeier

Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you're well!

This seems to be a hardware issue. Although you could try BIOS recovery on your PC (Only if you're able to open the lid of your laptop)

Follow the steps mentioned in "Recovering the notebook BIOS using a key press combination" from this link: Click Here

If this does not help, I suggest you contact our phone support for service options on your laptop.

Use the link www.hp.com/contacthp and fill in the details. It will generate a case number and telephone number for you to contact HP Support.

Keep me posted and I hope you have a good day ahead,

Regards

Hello;

Allow me to welcome you to the HP forums!

To honestly answer your question -- at this point, no one really knows!

The ONLY way to determine what damage the liquid spill did is to do two things: (1) completely disassemble the laptop and visually inspect every single component and surface,(2) run extensive diagnostics on the laptop to locate any problems.

BOTH of these take time and they will cost considerable amounts of money -- which are likely to exceed the current value of the laptop.

If you want an estimate of the costs, my suggestion is that you contact an HP Service Center:  http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c00372730?jumpid=reg_r1002_usen_c-001_title_r0004

Good Luck

Hi GBL84,

Thanks for your swift answer. Only the power button blinks once but the computer is not starting.

The power led is white - so this means there is power in the battery.

Thanks,

Morfu

Hello,

Please check if the unit loads in SAFE MODE

Perform Hard Drive test

1. Please "Turn OFF" the Notebook

2. "Power ON" the Notebook and keep tapping the Escape Key during the start up to enter the Start-up Menu

3. Now here, Please select the BIOS option [F10] and under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab

4. You should find the facility to run tests on the Hard Disk.

Post back the results !!

After I determined that the laptop would not start up on the power supply with the battery out , like it should have. I borrowed a power supply from Best Buy's and the machine started right up.

Ordered a new one !

Thank you for your assistance !

Hello,

Thanks for trying to help, although I don't think it has anything to do with the HDD (now a SDD), because Win7 worked and the system now hangs with the error "dxgkrnl.sys BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED" in the log, which is the graphic card, right? Also the boot doesn't show much although I enabled the verbose service that tells me what it is doing on boot-up.

Never the less, I will preform these hardwarre tests....

To the webmaster:

- This reply-field has a background text "Help the community...." in chrome, which doesn't disappear uppon typing!

- "3-in-1 USB Key v.3.6.0.0"  1.6Gb download breaks at 1.4Gb!  : ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp77501-78000/sp77842.exe

I don't have a UEFI bios, Can't download it from HP, Couldn't install "HP Vision Diagnostics" because my USB-sticks are to small or to large, So I finally needed to installed the UEFI in a HDD partition. It took me some while to figgure this out through that link Smiley Sad And the test didn't find any problems. So I think it is still the graphic card AMD Radeon HD 7400M series (0x6760) driver!

What about disabling these drivers? I don't even use direct X, no games, just internet and movies.

Thank you Hawiie for the video.  I did see the computer turning on, but the screen remains blank.  I also understand that you have already tried the bios update.

One more thing you may try is CBR or otherwise called as bios recovery .  So, for this .. turn the computer off.

Press the windows key and the letter B , while holding them down press on the power button till computer turns on.. and then let go all the buttons.  Wait for some time ,( 30 seconds) and see if you see anything on the screen .. It should normally tell us BIOS recovery or update.  If you see such a screen , follow the instruction, it will restart the computer on its own.

It would be greatly helpful, if you could tell me the outcome of this test.

Thank you hawiie for the prompt reply.

Take care.

Welcome to the HP Forums
I hope you're well Smiley Happy

I understand that you are facing with your HP G7 laptop. The computer fails to boot up. Not to worry, let's try troubleshooting this and try to get it up running. I would like to know if the PC is making any kind of beep noise or any of the light flashing while you trying turn on the same. Let's try doing a power drain and check if the PC turns on. Click on the link mentioned below and follow the instructions to do a power drain.

http://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c01684768

Let's also try resetting the memory models on the PC. Follow the instructions to do the same.

Keep me posted.

Thanks,

I received some info from my mail to AMD...

I removed all graphic drivers and set Windows 10 not to install any automaticly with there provided link:

http://www.guru3d.com/files-details/display-driver-uninstaller-download.html

And the computer suddenly shut down and restarted very fast 3+10seconds Smiley Happy

Then I installed there latest driver "16.2.1 Crimson Edition compatible with Windows10" with there warning that they recommends using the graphics drivers provided by your laptop's manufacturer:

http://support.amd.com/en-us/download/desktop/legacy?product=legacy3&os=Windows%2010%20-%2064

It did first shutdown fast, but again very very slow boot-up and future shutdows after the installed graphic driver.  Smiley Sad

So it's really the AMD grahic driver with Windows 10 directX on this HP DV6 Smiley Mad

Any solutions to find a better driver for AMD Radeon HD 7400M series (0x6760) in a  HP Pavilion DV6-6B11sb ?

Or at least a way to skip the "dxgkrnl.sys BOOTLOG_NOT_LOADED" faster on boot/shutdown?

Or maybe I should stick with the configuration after using that tool (from Ghislain Harvey) to remove all graphic drivers and disabling the windows auto-update of it. Screen looks nice now, but shurely I don't have the full power now of the build-in graphic card.

Device Manager says now:

Display adpters...

  - Intel(R) HD Graphic 3000

  - ! Microsoft Basic Display Adapter

Hi@MichelR,

Thanks for the reply.

The only point of performing the diagnostics was to check if any hardware issue were found.

But again, I understand that the error you shared, is pointing towards the graphics card.

You can disable the AMD driver in device manager under Display adapters. Just right click on the AMD entry and select disable.

If you install the drivers automatically online, it will install the AMD drivers once again. Check if you can uninstall the Crimson Edition from the control panel.

Hope the above information helps you find the correct solution.

Let me know for more

Hi ,

Welcome to the HP Support Forums Smiley Happy

I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers. For you to have the best experience on the HP forum, you could also visit our HP Forums Guide for First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.

I see from the post that you are having loud popping noise after the notebook shuts down. I'll try my best to help you with this.

This popping sound could be from the speakers or from some component on the board reaching a limit and causing the system to go down.

Let's try these steps:

Perform a hard reset

Try to update the Bios and sound card drivers, using this link.

If the issue persists,  then the popping sound is a component on the board reaching a limit and causing the system to go down.  This problem will require a repair.  Here is the link so you can contact the correct department at HP Support.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any further assistance.

Hi all,

I plugged my laptop into my tv via hdmi. The screen glitches for a moment and then the entire laptop turned off. This hasn't been an issue previously.

It will no longer turn on, I've tried the hard reset by holding the power button to no avail. Tried booting with the battery in and out, mains only and all sorts. The pc is still receiving power because the charger light is on when the charger is plugged in and the light flicks off for roughly 2-3seconds while pressing the on button but nothing else happens. No sounds or any other lights. Can anyone help out?

Thank you,
