I hate to say this but if the old RAM is now giving an error, there might have been a static charge that zapped the motherboard. The old RAM was compatible and now is not working so we have to think in terms of some kind of a hardware issue. That conclusion is not entirely satisfactory since Memtest86 says the memory is fine, the problem only comes when you try to boot the computer. I also have never seen this exact issue.

Again, it was working properly with Windows10 using a different disk and the same BIOS.

Hi,
Unfortunately, business machines such as Probooks or Elitebooks have more stringent security than consumer models - they don't produce 'halt codes', the password cannot be derived from the Serial No. and the code is stored in non-volatile memory so removing the RTC cell will not reset the password in this case.
If you Contact HP Business support they should be able to send you a customised SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.
