Blue recovery screen with error

Upon startup I get a HP screen "preparing automatic repair" and then a blue recovery screen appears.  It states "There was a problem with a device connected to your PC.  An unexpected I/O error has occurred.  File:\windows\system32\winload.efi.  Error code: 0xc00000e9.  This problem can happen when a removable storage device is removed while it's in use or is failing.  Properly connecting any removable storage and restarting your PC may fix this problem.

I have restarted the computer and received the same issue.  I also ran a diagnostics test on the hard drive and it passed.  Please assist.

HP ProBook Shuts Downs Unexpectedly

Hi,

This had been my son's computer and he stopped using it a year ago b/c it would shutdown. I now need it and am trying to use it, but have the same problem. Here is what I know:

I hadn't had any problems for a few days; upped screen brightness to 100% and had multiple issues today;

It is happening suddenly and unexpectedly;

I am not getting any visible error messages;

Shutdown is associated with fan speed increasing/fan working harder;

Laptop is up on a mesh box with plenty of airflow;

Laptop is plugged in;

Have reset screen brightness and is still occuring;

Happens after a few minutes of use;

Was attempting to d/l and use HP Hardware Diagnostics when it shut down;

In reading the forum I understand I should run this diagnostics scan, check (and possibly update) BIOS. Will do both when I can get laptop to stay on long enough.

Other suggestions/tips?

Streambook 14 BIOS locked.

I have a Streambook 14, and without warning, it suddenly asks for a BIOS password to boot.  I get i59961139 as the error message when I try to boot (edit: when I hit the limit of password failures).  Is this a common problem?  I have seen a few report this issue.  I DID NOT configure a BIOS password.  Could this have happened after my BIOS update?

Laptop keeps crashing while playing game

Hello,

I have recently purchased an hp omen (prod id: 4QMB0PA#AKL model: 15dc0079TX). It has not been more than a week since my purchase and I wanted to install games on my laptop. So, I downloaded steam and installed dota 2. I played the game and it was fine on the "fastest" setting but when I bumped up the settings a bit higher my game ran for 10 seconds and then the entire laptop froze nothing worked. A couple of other tries after updating my gpu drivers (gtx 1060 driver verion 411.xx) it still froze the same way.  And a couple of other times got BSODs some with dxgkrnl.sys issues but i have DirectX12 installed. I don't know what the issue might be but i am afraid that these constant crashes might affect my hardware so I wanted to get some help from the community before I try anything else myself. Hope i get a response soon.

Without any details, we can't provide any help ...

So please provide the following:

1) the printer model number

2) the OS version (i.e., Win7, Win8x, Win10) that you are running.

Folks will get back when you provide the details ...

Hi:

Restart the PC, and enter this unlock passcode...64534576

Sometimes that happens as a result of some kind of hardware issue--usually the hard drive failing.

Thank you so much!  It turns out the hard drive has no partitions anymore.  I'm guessing that had something to do with it!  Luckily nothing important was on there.

Thank you again!

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

Please try getting into the BIOS and let me know if that works

Shut down the Notebook and upon restarting keep tapping on F10 till you see System Configuration Menu ( BIOS )

Let me know if the Notebook boots to the BIOS

Thank you and have a great day 😊

 Attempt to turn on laptop and it won't. just a orange/red WiFi light and white Caps light blinking three times with fan blowing. Then it apparently shuts off and the cycle starts over again and again

Selected boot image did not Authenticate

Receiving the message in subject line, when I attempt to boot from an external drive or DVD. Both of which were bootable before. EFI boot order Options & BIOS settings seems normal when viewed from F9 & F10 manipulations. F2 testings on HD shows everthin as OK..

There was a new HD installed with a clean Windows 10 installation too.

Perhaps there might be something that I am overlooking or forgot, any suggestions?

Thanks!

Hey KrazyToad,

So, I did everything you detailed in your response and the battery failed.  It gave me a failure ID #, which is 9AMB9Q-8AK9GA-MFPUQJ-C0CK03.  Can you direct me on what to do next?  I have had this laptop for less than two years.  The battery should be under warranty right?  Anyway, please help.  I am taking the Florida Bar in February and I need to resolve this as soon as possible.

Thanks for your help,

JDF11

,

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that the computer is not booting to Windows and you are getting an error message.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

In order that I may provide you with an accurate solution, I will need a few more details.

  • When was the last time the computer was working fine?
  • Have you made any software or hardware changes on the computer?
  • Have you performed any troubleshooting steps before posting?

While you respond to that, I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.

1. Turn off the computer.

2. Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.

3. Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices, such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.

4. Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

5. Remove the battery from the battery compartment.

6. Press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain residual electrical charge from the capacitors that protect the memory.

7. Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the notebook, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.

8. Press the Power button to turn on the computer.

9. On the Options screen, select Continue and continue to Windows 10.

10. If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, then press the Enter key.

11. Reconnect each of the peripheral devices.

If you continue facing the issue, follow the steps in the below article.
