Hi

The message is that your hard isk has failed and needs either replaceing, and/or new Operating System.


First:- Turn off the computer, press and hold the PWR button for 4 seconds.

Then - Leave only keyboard and mouse connected, disconnect all externally connected
devices such as Docking Station, USB storage devices, displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.

Next - Press and Hold the Power button for 15 seconds to Hard Reset.

AND/OR - Power on your PC, press Esc (repeatedly), then F2 at the prompt.
Choose System Tests (Fast Test does a 4 minute hardware check).

AND/OR - Windows Logo key + Ctrl + Shift + B
(This key sequence actually restarts you graphics drive(W10 only).)

AND/OR - If you’re using multiple displays, try projecting video to a different monitor.
Press the Windows Logo key + P, select a display, and then press Enter.

If the above does not imprve please post back.

Hi

You get a LONG (MAJOR) signal category, RED LED &

then a SHORT (MINOR) signal category, WHITELED.

Major – the category of the error; Minor – specific error in that category

The AUDIBLE repeats 5 times, and the VISUAL until power is removed.

 

Main-

(Mother)

Board

5.3

The embedded controller times out waiting for the BIOS.

Component is not reachable by BIOS in certain time limit.

1 Reseat component.

2 Test known good component.

3 Replace component or Main-Board as needed.

Hi

I reinstalled the Windows 7 from the HP media.  I even selectivly updated the drivers and that keyboard problem never happened after the update.

However I now have a totaly different problem.  I cannot install Service pack 1.  I have downloaded the exe and other updates manualy.  It gives me an error that it cannot install it.   I am now trying to update windows KB with the windows update.  As manualy downloading them is not working too well.

 

Can one order HP Windows 7 media with SP1 already installed?  Just wondering if one can do that or if it is even available.

This one thing might get me over some of the problems.

Thanks for your message. 

Given that the HP Support utility could not recognise my laptop now that windows 10 is installed I decided to try an online updates website. This recognised the laptop as well as 21 available updates which wen installed resolved the problem.

I tried all of it (exept the last one- I don't have another monitor) but the computer still wont turn on. After I press the power button for 15 seconds the lights stop, but then when I try to turn the laptop back on the lights start up again.

I don't think it is resolved.

 

You best contact HP Technical Support and open a case for the fan error.

And, now, maybe the battery is failing / not charging?

Regardless, there is more than one thing physically wrong and neither of them are likely to get better on their own.

 

Battery

 

If you ONLY need a new battery, you can perhaps replace the battery on your own.

As soon as you open your computer's Website support page, you will see a battery check in the Troubleshooting category.  The HPSA battery check is not as thorough as is the UEFI check; it is at least a place to start.

If the provided solutions for the fan error did not fix the issue, the fan is not going to "get better" on its own.
