Re: Hard Drive Short DST failed

Thanks again

I've taken care of the hard drive bit.

About the RAM, as I understand it, the laptop currently has DDR3L 4GB RAM at 1600Hz speed, and since i want to make it 8GB by adding a secondary RAM, will i need to buy an identical stick? Does it need to be DDR3L or is DDR3 fine as long as it clocks at 1600?

Can you suggest a good 4GB RAM stick that would work with my laptop which is relatively cheap but good in terms of quality of manufacturer please? Something  around 30 USD or lesser.

Anytime.  Glad to be of assistance.

Yes, if you want to install a SSD in place of the standard hard drive, you can.

It will perform better and may be more reliable than the mechanical hard drive.

Memory has to be DDR3L (1.35V), not DDR3 (1.5V).

See if you can get this model and spec in your country...This is what I used in my HP 350 G1 notebook.

I received a used HP 10-p011nr tablet/laptop from a family member that works for a 'Rent a center.' Boss was gonna throw it out since its stuck on 'Enter administrator or power on password.' I have been unable to find a proper code key or anything that would otherwise help me.  Last failed password code was as follows: A [F57A2B67].

Welcome to the HP Support Community

For that model and (HEX) code you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to generate your Master code from your “SYSTEM DISABLED CODE”

Contact Support >> http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/ww-contact-us.html

When talking to the HP rep ask them to escalate your service request.

I have also heard that some have had success removing the RTC/BIOS battery???

You're very welcome.

Your notebook is a relatively new model, so if it is still under warranty, you should contact HP technical support and submit a support case under the warranty.

99% of the time, that error code means the hard drive has failed.

Since your notebook has an eMMC drive, the entire motherboard has to be replaced to make repairs.

You can try to reinstall W10 as follows, but if it doesn't work, then the notebook's motherboard will have to be replaced.

To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.  Make the 64 bit installation media.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, since your PC is not working.

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

  1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
  2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
  3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
  4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

  5. Select which media you want to use:
  6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can install the drivers and available software from your notebook's support page.

Hi:

The code you received, Hard Disk 1 Quick Test Failure, means the hard drive needs to be replaced and the operating system reinstalled.

Consult the service manual for your specific model notebook for the HDD R & R procedures.

After you replace the hard drive, you can reinstall W10 as follows...

To reinstall W10...Use the Media Creation Tool.  Make the 64 bit installation media.

Stuck on HP logo after failed windows fall update

HELP!

My laptop initiated a Windows 1809 update. All went well. After the update it asked to do a restart, but after I clicked Restart my laptop got stuck on HP logo with the bios version in the left down corner (P85 Ver. 01.04  04/12/2018)

I tried every possible keyboard combination. It doesn't respond at all. I tried draining power. Nothing. I downloaded the sp91342 and after the sp91354 and tried to make a BIOS Recovery USB but every time I get "The system bios update file is missing or corrupt. The system bios will not be updated".

I run out of ideas.

Please help.

Thanks

OK, then unless you purchased an Extended Warranty, that means your PC is no longer under warranty and to have HP diagnose it or repair it, you would have to get an estimate of the cost.

To do that, you would need to contact an HP Repair or Service Center.
If you live in the U.S., here is a link to the HP Service Repair Centers:
https://www.service-center-locator.com/hp-hewlett-packard/hp-hewlett-packard-service-center.htm
If you live outside the U.S., here is a link to HP Service Centers, by Country/Region: https://support.hp.com/in-en/service-center
Good Luck

Boot Device Not Found - Hard Disk (3F0)

which requires restarting to by pass error.  I found a similar post thta recommended that sfc/scannow be run under the command prompt(admin).  My operating system does not have command prompt under the start menu (it has powershell). Also powershell on my laptop can not locate sfc/scannow.  Tanks in advance for any help.

Reo,

First off, I’d like to thank you for your timely response but unfortunately bring that this method proved to be unsuccessful in my case and would deliver a new error code [ i 687212827 ] . As you said, I booted down and attempted to enter the Bios through option [ F10 ] and  when asked for Administrator Password I entered 57422701 . Please Note: That before I received your message I managed to download the Bios Recovery Boot through the HP Support site and performed a successful run by applying the [ Windows key + B then POWER] method that forced the Bios Boot recovery which then allowed me to perform an almost full “Reset This PC” option located within the Windows Recovery Settings.  Is it possible that the prior steps I performed may have re-configured the error I posted originally?

Where to from here?? And Many Thanks Again for your Support
