Im getting to the point it might be worth my while just stripping my 840 G3 for parts then starting again. HP seemed great at first, now though I do not know. I think you might have made your problem worse by taking out the battery.

That Sucks. I still like HP they to me provide a petter product thanmost on the market. In my case it was stupidity that got me to this point. Forgetting my password on an ellitebook was not to smart. I know there are solutions that will work on generic sites but I would rather get proper HP approved advice from here before I end up bricking the machine!

Hi:
Enter any BIOS P/W 3 times, and the PC should generate a system disabled code.
Post the code you receive including the small letter 'i' in front of the code if applicable.

Re-start the notebook, keep tapping F2, and run a complete test to make sure it is not a hardware issue.

You can't use the BIOS P/W.org site to unlock the passwords that start with the little 'i.'
We have a magic program that will unlock those codes...
Restart the PC, and enter this unlock passcode...66453726

I think you should try reinstalling the operating system.
You may also want to run the hard drive diagnostics test.
Usually you can access that by restarting the PC, tap the Esc key at the beginning of the HP welcome screen to get the menu of options.
Select the F2 system diagnostics option.

Lost power on password for Presario C700
Hi!
I found a really old computer - it was a Presario C700, unfortunetly I lost the password.
When i type the wrong password 3 times, it comes up with Key: 77105159.
I cant remove the CMOS battery as all the screws are stripped and worn out.

The screen is completely blank after that even not showing the menu by pressing the esc button I tried to remove the bettery but same problem I will reinstall windows but when I turn on my laptop the screen is completely dark even not showing the hp logo at first

When I power on my laptop the fans turns on after some time when I again click on the power button it turns off directly not like holding the power button.
its not like forcing the power off

Since I am not a PC repair tech by trade or training, unfortunately, l won't be able to help you any further with your PC's problem. It is way beyond my skill level.
I was able to solve your original problem of unlocking the BIOS password.
I think you are going to have to take it to a PC repair shop.

envy x360 black screen of death
Today my envy x360 decided to quit on me. When i press the power button the light comes on along with the fan but nothing else. I get the charger light on when i plug my charger in and when the battery fully charges it goes from orange to white. While the laptop is "on" the caps lock light wont turn on or the num lock light. I have taken the ram out and even swapped it with some extras still no change. I made a usb drive with the media creation tool to try to restore windows my usb drive blinks at start up but i cant get any response with f12 or f9 i also read escape works but none of them could bring my screen up. I also tried to hook up to a monitor and it showed something was hooked up but said it was getting no signal. Is this a motherboard issue or could it be something else? Any help is greatly apprectated thank you in advance.

how to edit os boot manager selections?
I have tried several different linux distros on this machine and think i have finally settled on the ones i want to use long term. My uefi boot manager comes up with a very long list. Is there a way to delete the distros i no longer have installed? I have read this can be done from linux using efibootmgr commands, but even as root it says this file is locked. I have no idea how to unlock a file that resides in nvram? Thanks for any advice, and apologies if this is in the wrong category- it seemed closest to my issue.
