The image for the HP logo on startup is encoded into the UEFI firmware at the factory when the PC is built.

As far as I know, there is no way for a customer to modify the UEFI firmware to change the image.

I just given a computer with a BIOS password.  It is a HP 15-AF123CL and gives me the lock code of 71959806.  I've tried BIOS-PW.ORG but their suggestion (64631228) doesn't work.  Any suggestions?

Hi, I have had the SMC file sent from HP but no matter what the laptop will not boot in to it. I have tried everything, from new USB to even partioning drives that I have used for Bios flas in the past. Really stummped with this one.

Followed this.

Please follow these steps to clear BIOS password:

Save the attached file with this e-mail to the root of the USB key as SMC.BIN and insert to the system (or save the file to the root of drive D: HP_TOOLS)
- Press (Windows Key + Arrow UP Key + Arrow Down Key) all keys at same time and turn on the system
- Release all keys and press F10 at HP logo to go to F10 setup to (Reset BIOS security to factory default)

SMC command failure reasons
Wrong UUID is provided
Try different brand and smaller size USB key USB key is not formatted FAT32 Make sure to use USB 2.0 port and not USB 3.0 port on notebooks that have both types of ports.
BIOS ,date and time should be current and updated.
Use hard drive method by using HP_TOOL partition, if there is no HP_ tools partition,  it can be created in either of 2 ways:

Any help I thank you for.

TPM and bitlocker issue

I installed a new SSD with windows 10 pro and when IU try to use bitlocker to encrypt, it won't save the code to an external drive and fails. If I bypass the check it will encrypt the drive but it continually looks for the key every time it restarts. I'm about at my wits end because it has a TPM and this is the second install that has been done to try and fix the issue

No updates left according to the solution center and the TPM version is 2.0 I believe

Welcome to the HP Forums!

Thank you for posting your query on this forum, it's a great place to find answers.

I reviewed your post and I understand that you want the advanced options in the BIOS to modify the ACPI options etc.

Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.

HP Pc’s uses a customized BIOS setting (Tattooed BIOS) of which some features including overclocking and increasing the VRAM are unavailable.

This is done in the best interest of safeguarding the PC for the optimal performance and not to cause any extensive component failure.

To conclude, the settings are set to a specific value and it's locked and cannot be changed. Nevertheless, you can go ahead and install a third party BIOS or make changes to the BIOS using third-party tools at your own risk.

Hope the information shared will help you and you have a great day!

Cheers!

I have loost my BIOS password. How I can reset a new password?

I have loost my BIOS password. Is there a means to reset / clear or change this?

My UUID number is: 1FD8F25B9A32E3119D50009AE50260A5

SKU: A115AV

[personal information removed per Rules Of Participation]

I have tried removing the CMOS battery and leaving ir without power for a week resulting in no joy and I have attempted the "generic" bios password clearing EEPROM sofware usb (thus from the cmd prompt) and windows available with no luck. I have tried reinstalling win 8.1 and then running a factory reset and again this did not work I can not change the boot order and booting from a USB is only possible, via a manual process upon the laptop noting an OS on it as an IOS file.

HELP this is driving me nuts!!!!

Thanks in advance!

Welcome to HP Forums. This is a great place to get support, find answers and tips.

I have gone through your Post and would like to help

I suggest you run a Hard drive test first to confirm the Hardware Functionality

- Hold the power button for at least five seconds to turn off the computer.
- Turn on the computer and immediately press Esc repeatedly, about once every second.
- When the menu appears, press the F2 key.
- On the main menu, click Component Tests and Hard drive

Also scan your Notebook for Malwares

If the Hard drive test then run the HP Support Assistant to recheck for all the latest HP updates.

HPSA will automatically search for all the latest drivers for your Notebook

  1. Click My devices in the top menu, and then click Updates in the My PC or My notebook pane.

Click Updates in the My notebook pane

  2. Click Check for updates and messages to scan for new updates.

Updates list in HP Support Center

  3. Review the list of updates. Updates with a yellow information icon are recommended. Updates with a blue information icon are optional.

  4. Click the update name for a description, version number, and file size.

  5. Select the box next to any updates you want to install, and then click Download and install.

Also ensure Windows is up to date.

Select the Start  button, and then go to Settings  > Update & security  > Windows Update , and select Check for updates. If Windows Update says your device is up to date, you have all the updates that are currently available

Thank you and have a wonderful day 😊
